Each year in the United States, over 750,000 teens become pregnant and find themselves making tough choices with lasting impacts. Additionally, 9 million new cases of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are reported among the youth in our country every year. These statistics emphasize the responsibility and challenges we have as educators to prepare our young people to make healthy choices about their sexuality.

To help you meet this challenge, The Birds & Bees Project staff provides classroom presentations and professional workshops, offer a free Educator’s Guide, manage the Birds & Bees website, and coordinate a monthly E-Zine for providers of sexuality education. Additionally, we are working on college campuses in Minnesota increase support and training for on comprehensive sexuality education for pre-service teachers at Minnesota State University – Mankato, St. Cloud State University and Augsburg College. To learn more, see Sex Ed Training.

Sexuality Educator's E-Zine
To support the critical work of Teachers, Social Workers, Youth Workers and Community Program Educators, we launched a monthly e-mail alert in the fall of 2007. The alert is quick to read and features new information in the field of sexual and reproductive health from an educator's perspective, teaching tips and lesson plans, and links to credible resources.
